Powerboat Courses

GBSC is an authorised Irish Sailing Training Centre

Looking to get Certified as a Powerboat operator or just to become more confident

These courses will give you the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively skipper an open tiller or console powerboat, by day on coastal waters with which the user is familiar.

On completion you will receive the appropriate IS accreditation which can be added to your ICC certification.

National Powerboat Certificate Level 1 - Tiller

Overview

This one day course is designed as an Introduction to Powerboats and is aimed at participants that are 15 years of age or over.

The participants will gain experience using a tiller based powerboat.

The aim of this course is to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to safely, and effectively, skipper an open tiller powerboat, by day, on coastal waters with which the user is familiar.

This course is ideal for participants wishing to qualify as Junior Instructors or just expand their knowledge and skills.

This course is for Tiller Powerboat only,

Participants must be 15 years old or over.

Objective

By the end of this course you will be have covered following:

Boat and Engine Perpetration
Clothing and Equipment
Basic Boat Handling
Rope Work
Safety on Board
Man over Board

Previous knowledge or experience

Participants must be 15 years of age.

This two day course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to safely, and effectively, skipper an open powerboat, by day, on inland and coastal waters with which the user is familiar.

This Course is ideal for participants wishing to qualify as Instructors or expand their knowledge and skills.

This course is for Console Powerboat only,

Participants must be over 16.
